Providing Health & Human Services at a Sustainable Level
- Stoughton and Dane County Community Issues
< Back to Community Issues |

Since 2008, Dane County has taken annual consideration of centralizing the administrative offices of Health & Human Services department. In 2009, as President of the Stoughton Common Council, I appeared before the Health & Human Services committee to voice opposition to this concept of locating the department service offices in Madison, WI.
Operating regional offices; such as present in Stoughton, help bring county assistance and aid to our community's most vulnerable citizens. Stoughton needs to be a regional destination for the youth, seniors and disable residents of southeast Dane County. I intend to provide a constant voice of support for maintaining current service levels in this community.
A prime example of such local assistance is the development of the Elvestad Housing project. This project has paved the way for redevelopment of neighborhood housing in the Railroad Corridor District. Dane County CBDG funding; through the Health & Human Services department, was an integral part of the Stoughton Redevelopment Authority development plan for that area. As a long time supporter and member of the Stoughton Redevelopment Authority, I will continue to involve and engage the County Health & Human Services resources for the development of diversified housing and financial aid to our community.

We encourage you to share your comments and concerns on these, and many other topics currently under discussion and planning by the Dane County Board. I plan to represent the interests of Dane County residents in Stoughton, and to work at keeping us all informed and involved in the process of shaping our community.
