
Last summer the Mayor’s Office, along with the Stoughton Common Council has worked diligently to prepare a capital improvement and operation budget for 2010. With decreased tax revenue sharing by both State & County governing bodies, our ability to maintain services for the citizens of this community has become difficult.
State, County and Local Municipalities struggle with similar issues. With projections of economic growth through the year 2012, there will be a need to address this matter aggressively over the next two budget years.
As mayor, I intend to implement an “accountable” management strategy which focuses on city department goals and objectives. This strategy can be easily established during our budgetary process and it will provide a method of measurement for determining the effectiveness of our city government and services. Without evaluating our operational performance on a regular basis, our struggle to maintain taxes and control spending will continue to escalate. As mayor, I will make this aggressive management strategy a priority on the first day I take office.
